| Women's Residence |
The mission of Free Clinic Women's Residence is to provide safe and supportive transitional housing
for single, homeless women who are capable of living independently.
The Women's Residence provides a safe place for single homeless women to stay while they are working,
saving and planning for independent living. The residence can shelter a maximum of 20 women. The
residents are supported through referral and information programs such as education about budgeting,
goal setting, job seeking, and self-esteem. Women stay an average of 6 months; today's economic climate
requires many residents to stay longer.
Individuals come to the Women's Residence for a variety of reasons, economic difficulties, recovery from
drug or alcohol use, or family problems. To stay at the Women's Residence they must be drug and alcohol
free, be able to work, and save money for future independent living. All residents must help maintain the
cleanliness of their rooms and the house in general.
