Raytheon Engineers Can-U-Construct
|
One of the activities held during Raytheon’s Engineers’ Week was the “Can-U-Construct” competition,
sponsored by Todd Tap, Director of Engineering. The competition consisted of teams of 5 employees
each using donated soup cans and their imagination to design sculptures made entirely from canned
foods. The sculptures were judged and awards presented at the conclusion of the competition.
Employees donated close to 2000, 10.5 oz. standard soup cans. Employees received one ticket for an
iPOD drawing for every 10 cans they donated.
After Engineer’s Week, the sculptures were dismantled and the cans stored for use in a similar, smaller
competition held during their Site Open House on June 9.
The soup cans were donated to Free Clinic Food Bank, one of Florida’s oldest food banks, located in
downtown St. Petersburg. Due to the generosity from Raytheon, as well as other community groups,
clubs, churches, businesses, and school groups, Free Clinic Food Bank is able to supply more than 50
other community organizations with food for those in need, as well as residents at our shelters and Free
Clinic We Help Services, which provides food for an average of 58 people per day.
Thank you, Raytheon Engineers, for you
generosity through a very creative campagin!
