Lions Club and Many Other Groups Collect Food In Creative Ways
|
We are at one of our lowest levels of food supply at this time. The
80 tons of food we collected in May - the Letter Carriers' Food
Drive - has all been distributed.
We are now dependent upon neighborhood food drives,
corporate food drives, and any other creative ways of collecting
food for hungry individuals. We especially need dry goods -
pasta, rice, cereal and other dry packaged food items.
The St. Petersburg Lions Club Santa Parade is requesting that
all attendees bring food to the parade on Saturday, December 5.
For more information call 727-525-5950. Donated food will be
given to the Free Clinic Food Bank. Food drop-off point will be
Straub Park at the Snowfest after the parade.
Reilly and Devyn Kropf, pictured at left, decided they wanted to
collect food for the food bank. One week before the food
collection, they and their parents distributed 200 flyers in their
neighborhood, advertising the food drive. On the day of the drive,
they went house to house collecting food - 551 pounds! Thank
you Reilly and Devyn for making a positive impact on our
community!
On September 11, The National Day of Service and
Remembrance, the classes of Ms. Ziehl, Ms. Meadows and Mrs.
Jung at the Imagine School, held a food drive to collect canned
goods for the Free Clinic Food Bank. Thank you to the students
and teachers for seizing the teachable moment to demonstrate
compassion in the community.

As Hurricane Season nears an end, please consider donating
your emergency food and water supplies to the Free Clinic Food
Bank.
Donated food can be brought to the warehouse in back of our
building at 863 3rd Avenue North.

JFK Supply (a solid
supporter of the
annual Letter
Carriers' Food Drive),
has put a different
twist on Halloween.
For the past two
years he has taken
his niece
trick-or-treating.
Instead of asking for
candy, she asks for a
non-perishable item
that she can donate
to the local Food
Bank.

to double their food
donations to the
