| 40th Anniversary Video Previewed at Battle of the Minds VIII |
In the 40th anniversary year of St. Petersburg
Free Clinic, the eighth annual charity fundraiser,
Battle of the Minds, once again proved to be the
most fun fundraiser in town. It was held on
Saturday, February 20 at the Renaissance Vinoy
More than four hundred sixty guests and over forty
volunteers attended. Fifty-five teams competed
this year, with Eric Tridas’ & Greg Matthews’
Serotonins Team claiming first place, and Dr.
John Gross’ Transplants Team winning second
place. Third place was tied by Cynthia Lake's DG
& Friends and Sertoma Charities Team,
organized by Norm Dusseault. Joe Bourdow, Sr.
Advisor at Valpak, was this year’s game show
host and Blake Kennedy was auctioneer.
Art pieces by Dale Chihuly, Duncan McClellan,
and other artists helped boost the revenue from
the live and silent auctions. In addition, a Fantasy
Baseball Broadcast Weekend at the Carolina
Mudcats, a Big Game Hunting Trip in Montana,
and a Get-A-Way to Vail, Colorado encouraged
active bidding. At the end of the evening, the Free
Clinic netted over $175,000 and claimed the
most successful fundraiser for the organization.

Creative Services, was introduced and shown to
