St. Petersburg Free Clinic needs a Dietitian/Nutritionist
volunteer for 1-on-1 patient counseling. You determine your
schedule. We require that the volunteer have at least a
bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, food
service systems management or a related area; licensure,
certification or registration for the State of Florida and three or
more years experience in nutrition consulting.

Nature of the volunteer work:
- teach patients with high blood pressure how to use less
salt when preparing meals - create diets reduced in fat and sugar for overweight
patients - discuss how to shop smart for a given disease process
such as lowering cholesterol, renal problems, or critically
ill patients - evaluate individual needs, develop nutritional care plans
and instruct individuals and their families - perform nutrition screenings and offer advice on diet-
related concerns such as weight loss and cholesterol
reduction - provide expertise in sanitation, safety procedures, menu
development, budgeting and planning
