| Coast Guard to the Rescue! |
Twice, during the month of December, U.S. Coast Guard crews from the Cutter Nantucket and Cutter Hawk
volunteered to help with the holiday activities. The crew from the Nantucket pitched in to sort the items needed to
supply our 300 family Christmas Basket give-a-way. Crew from the Hawk were at the Free Clinic at 7:30 AM to help
organize and distribute the Christmas baskets.
Observing the Coast Guard at work is quite interesting. As they arrive, they "huddle" and in a matter of seconds they
survey the task, make assignments and begin working. The team spirit and work ethic is exemplary. These women
and men are truly examples of what makes our country great.
The holiday baskets included canned goods, fresh produce, and turkeys. This distribution was made possible
through donations from individuals, businesses, and churches.
