| CROATIAN ART OPPORTUNITY |
The Croatian Naïve Art Gallery & Museum is offering a unique opportunity
during the weekend of October 11-14. Many of the paintings in the Gallery
will be offered at a 20% discount. A considerable number of other pieces
will be offered at a 10% discount. Not only will the purchaser of this art
benefit from special prices, but also for each piece sold the
Croatian Naive Art Gallery will make a special donation to the Free Clinic.
On Friday, October 12, there will be a reception at the Gallery from 6 to 9.
You are invited to come view the art, visit with other Free Clinic friends,
and enjoy a nibble or two. This is an informal event and you are welcome
to bring guests. No RSVP is necessary.
Croatian Naïve Art is artwork produced by self-taught artists, or those
not trained in classical academic methods. The term is also applied to
trained artists who intentionally paint in this style.
The technique is quite interesting. The paint is applied to the back side of glass, and unlike more traditional
painting methods, the smallest details are painted in first, rather than last. The painting is then viewed in
reverse, through the glass, resulting in intensely vivid, beautiful colors.
